Archive for Web Development

This day.

I just upgraded the picture gallery to v. 1.3.4. This one includes an option to autorotate images that contain the orientation in the EXIF header.

Cold apple sauce is great on a hot summer day. Good luck studying John.

Custom Error Pages

Made a 404 error page today. Unfortunately the text doesn’t show up properly under IE. I even made the page larger than 10K but it still didn’t work. Anyways, I spent most of my time working on header pics for the site.

Site Update: LastModified Tag

I just installed Kevin Shay’s excellent LastModified plugin which does exactly what its name implies — it shows when entries have been updated.

Installing Gallery

I found the install instructions for Gallery 1.3x to be very sparse. Here’s how I installed it on a RedHat/Apache server:

Welcome!

So this is the new site. I plan to add a lot of things and move some things around. I’ve made the blog the center of the site now instead of an add-on.

Here’s a list of things to do:

  • create different sections (categories): cars, about, faq, other interests.
    • faq about me
    • faq about site — technologies, setup, implementation (maybe move some of the _Web Development_ category entries there)
  • edit index page template
    • allow people to sign up for email updates have a confirm page or something
      • will updates include entries that have been edited??
      • an email this entry feature
    • consider removing email subscription — too much mail
    • add category links
    • creative commons license
    • visitor location in site — like brad choate’s directory mapping
    • photo album links
      • modify photogallery — link back to main page, css in line w/ main page
  • fix formatting problems
  • photogallery?
  • plugins
    • is there a spellcheck plugin?
  • add lastmodified to archives as well
  • make custom error pages
  • links
    • di.fm
    • tch

My brain is kinda fizzled right now. not any more now.
