Identity Theft
Not very fun. Annoying. Time-consuming. The thing that sucks the most is the onus is on you to correct it. You have to contact the police, the creditors, the credit reporting agencies. And unfortunately, the convenience we ask for from the banks and credit card companies is what makes it so easy for people to commit the fraud. Checks by phone, mail order checks, etc…
You have my sympathy if you’re a victim.
addendum: Check cards offer little protection if they’re stolen. Since the money is immediately debited from your account, you’re out that amount as opposed having less credit on your balance like a credit card. The bank will credit you back if you call them, but the immediate hassle of being out whatever they charged is there. And it sucks.
