Typing from Work

It’s been a different couple of weeks with the passing of gramps and all the work and cleaning that’s involved. But the ceremony was great and I think everyone in the family has coped and persevered quite well.

Basketball season is now in full swing and our mavs are doing great. Three straight double digit wins. I’m very excited with Diop in the starting lineup and Dampier coming off the bench. Dampier’s got a lot more energy and fire now that he’s been called out by our head coach Avery Johnson.

The third stringers had a good night as well, being able to get in some valuable minutes due to our commanding 30+ point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter against the Rockets. Josh Powell and DJ Mbenga were able to get out on the floor and test their mettle. Each ended up with 2 blocks — Mbenga had a huge one against a Rocket that was going up for a monster two handed dunk. Just batted the hell out of that one.

Even our small guard, veteran Daryll Armstrong had a sweet block when the ball got stolen from him. He was able to read the layup from the left perfectly and strolled right in between and swatted it away. Add two more blocks each from Diop and Dampier, and that makes 9 for the night.

I’m pretty fired up about it. But I think I’m losing my readers…In other news, my car is now at ~95%. Some minor electrical problems were diagnosed to a faulty relay and I now have a working gas gauge. And a blower motor. Wheel bearing and exhaust fixed courtesy of my old man. And new ES100’s shoes are being mounted and balanced today. No more “can’t go autocrossing cause my car’s broke” excuses.

A loss for the SLR camera industry today: Konica-Minolta announced it was stepping away from the business and transferring it’s assets to Sony, with whom they announced an partnering earlier last year. K-M had some really nice innovations such as image stabilization built into the body. It’s sad to see yet another camera company choke under the pressure.

Ruban repatriated yesterday. Welcome back to the US. Hopefully we’ll see more of you in the upcoming months.
