Dude, the SR-71’s friggin awesome. Insane how an engine ‘unstart’ rocked the plane so violently that the pilot’s helmet cracked. You gotta love how the aerodynamic friction was so great, the plane’s metal actually annealed over time. And 62,000 HP, shaft — whoanelly!
Oh… if I had known that, we could’ve seen the SR-71s in the town that I grew up in. We had a few of ‘em around b/c Lockheed’s Skunkworks was in the area that I grew up. Last i checked, they had 2 of them on display by the side of the road.
