I was watching Discovery HD Theatre last night and Tiff Needell was cohosting a show on the greatest cars of all times. No Porsches were included; that was an interesting exclusion. The 360 Modena was mentioned, as was the F40. The VW Camper also got a spot, because it evoked the feeling of freedom.
But when it came down to it, the McLaren F1 ruled again. You know that if you buy the car used, they’ll take it to the factory and work on it for 3 months cleaning, repairing, and customizing it to your tastes so that it’s practically new? Talk about wow. There’s one on display in London at the McLaren store (museum?). It’ll definitely be on my itinerary next time I visit England.

I want to watch the Mavs tonight. I really do. Especially since it’s on high definition. I really need to get the photos from Europe done. I really do. What I need is a notebook so I can sit in front of the tube and do both.
Fantasy setup:
- IBM T42
- 2GB ram
- 802.11G connection
- Server on network storing the gigs of pics
- Laptop Photoshop retrieving pics and editing
- High speed dsl w/ multi-mbit upload bandwidth

Looks like I might finally own my second Apple computer. The first one was an original macintosh my dad picked up somewhere. He even bought an expensive external floppy drive while on a trip in Japan cause the built-in one crapped out. Eventually the CRT started having issues — only scanning the upper half of the screen and we put it away in the “attic”. Never got any productivity out of that thing. Then again, I was only 10.
This looks to be a promising entry into a cheaper market spectrum for Apple. I might be tempted to get an Apple display as well. Hopefully it won’t have any hardware issues creep up. I’ve heard lots of stories about Apple denying that their hardware has any faults until the critical mass of complaints is just too overwhelming to refute.
Oh yeah, don’t expect this thing to be a powerhouse. You’ll have to wait til the drop a G5 (IBM 970FX) chip in it.
