BMW Concept M5
Found these lying on the web somewhere — I’m sure they just picked it up from a press package:
* 500+ HP High-Rev V-10
* 500+ NM Torque
* 7 Speed SMG
For when/if I can ever afford one, I’m hoping it also comes with a standard non-SMG transmission. There’s just too much pleasure derived from a clutch and rowing through the gears yourself that can’t be matched with a toggle of a shifter paddle. Probably slower, but you just can’t match the wide <g> on your face.

Wow… those pics are awesome… and even the SMG doesn’t bother me, but 7 gears? Seriously, shouldn’t a V10 give you enough torque through the rpm range so that you don’t need to shift every other second?

maybe high-rev means honda high rev, narrow powerband ;-p, or it’s just another stupid marketing bullet. probably the latter.

and yet still mated to a body that weighs 2+ tons. while it’s a great car, IMHO, i think the m5 always strives to meet too much criteria.
c6 z06 will be tasty, and will run circles around the new m5.

if it ever comes out. so far it’s just a z51 suspension package that i’ve heard about. they said the z06 may never come on the c6. but we’ll see when the time comes…
