Partial Review: The Return of the King @ AMC Grand
Today was an off day for watching movies: I didn’t get the nap that I was supposed to take prior to the midnight showing. The guys sitting next to us had uncontrollable IcantStopShakingMyLegItis. The sound goes awry after a loud scene and all the words that trail with “s” start sounding like “SSSSSS“. The dynamics are lost and the surround speakers start to sound louder than the front channels. I think it was a cumulative thing that led to me walking out of the theatre. (My weaseling out excuse to Shihab? “I’m really tired and I don’t think it’d be wise to not get much sleep.” — It was partially true!) Shihab was saying that as long as he could hear the dialog, there was nothing wrong. It’s tough having discerning ears :-D.
But lets get to the 45 minutes that I did get to see. There seems to have been a few more comic relief scenes put in. Most of the weird crowd that was there seemed to roar hysterically. The pace seemed a bit off and scenes seem to jump from one to another instead of transitioning…
Anyways, perhaps this is just cause I seemed to enjoy The Two Towers much more at home on a system that I’m familiar with. What can I say? I’m a critic. And an ego balloon full of hot air. ![]()

Wasted money. You should’ve watched Cheaper by the Dozen instead and watched LOTR on Friday night. :-p

Yeeees, good thing I bought a ticket at your behest only to have you walk out on the movie despite minor technical deficiencies that went away later *throws tomato*
And when you were supposed to get me a ticket to the same movie later, the dude forgot to tear off my stub and I got you a refund, ya cheap bastage!

New reader means new comments on old posts. I randomly clicked a category and saw this post. I can’t believe you walked out of LOTR. We can’t be friends. Certain scenes reminded me of star wars…the big elephant battle scenes. I loved this one..the comic relief from legolas (my fantasy boyfriend) and the dwarf trying to compete over who has the most kills…it’s really amusing. Got tired of the hobbit scenes…too mellow dramatic.

All girls love legolas. That’s an axiom. I did finish watching it. And now I have all of the extended versions haha.
They’re called oliphants!

but not all girls have a collector’s edition of a legolas action figure. you squeeze his legs and he shoots off an arrow. how cool is that. I need to find that toy…left it somewhere at mom’s.

haha. that can be misconstrued in so many ways. for a guy’s mind. it’d be more cool if he could shoot two arrows off at the same time like the LOTR video games. He’s frickin awesome in those.
